Monday game nights – RSVP policy

Hi folks – this is a gentle reminder – IF you are attending a Monday game night with EGL – to please ensure you RSVP for the event via the Meetup event page.

Further, if you have RSVP’d yes but find you can’t attend, please PLEASE change your response to a NO so that folks on the waitlist can attend.

Thankfully, game nights have become very popular (yay!), so much so that we’ve regularly got a full house. However, we are limited by the amount of table space available at the venue, hence the cap on attendees.

We’d love to see you around the table and don’t wish to turn anyone away … but in the interest of equity – if the venue is full on a given night and there’s limited seats – then please understand that we have to give precedence to guests who a) have a “yes” RSVP and b) are present within 15m of the event start time.

As ever, if you have any questions or concerns, contact us via our meetup page.

Board games Mondays with the EGL

Hi, folks! A reminder that the EGL (euro-gaming league) gathers weekly to play euro & other types of board games at the Game Parlour, 6-11pm every Monday. If you haven’t come out in a while, we’d love to see you again!

Our group is always welcoming to new folks, whether experienced board gamers or not. No need to bring any games, nor spend a half hour reading rules … the Game Parlour has a library of 1000+ games and our members are always happy to recommend and teach a variety of games!

Remember that our focus is on building community while introducing folks to the modern breed of fun, engaging games (‘not your father’s Monopoly’), so we hope you’ll join us any given Monday for a night full of fun games & fab people =)

See upcoming events at the meetup page.

EGL Reborn at The Game Parlour

After a hiatus of nearly a year, we have found another venue, allowing us to again host weekly game night in San Francisco! We’re in talks with the Game Parlour (SF’s very first board game cafe!) about use of their space for our group’s meetups.

The Game Parlour is located in the Inner Sunset (near 15th/Irving)., and has offered to reserve table space for our group’s meetups.

There’s a full menu, a large game library and many tables. It’s a mere one block from the N Judah and EGL’s game nights will likely remain on Mondays 6-11pm (see below).

Please take a moment to answer some questions re: viability of this venue for EGL at http://bit.ly/eglreborn … your feedback is invaluable as we figure out next steps for our group.

Thank you!

EGL Status Update

It is our goal to keep this fantastic group that Gordon created (back in 2011!) continuing & active as the prime board game meetup for San Francisco.

We are actively seeking a new venue for our regular meetups. If you’ve any leads or recommendations for community rooms, meeting spaces or the like that can serve as a home for the EGL, please contact us at info@sfegl.com.

Too, perhaps you would consider reaching out to your own online collective with a post on Facebook, Twitter, etc, in case someone in your circle has any leads? Thank you!

Consider contacting your collective with the following request:

In search of a community room…my boardgame group is in search of a community space for our regular (weekly or biweekly) meetups; if you’ve any leads or recommendations re: community meeting rooms (think community centers, churches, etc), please let me know.

Background: The SF European Gaming League (www.sfEGL.com) is a sober, recreational group that gathers to play games, build community and occasionally host fundraisers. On average we bring together about 30-40 people, one night per week, with a core group of regulars. We are open to everyone, and have rotating hosts to welcome new visitors to our group!

International Tabletop Day 2017

International Tabletop Day 2017 is coming to SF on SAT May 06, 2017! (one week late, but better late than not!). Come out and experience the new, modern board games making waves around the world!

We will have a library of dozens of board games available and volunteers on hand to help you find the game(s) best suited to you, as well as teach how to play them.

Please RSVP at the MEETUP event page. Due to venue restrictions, ages 12+ please.

International Tabletop Day (ITTD) is a day to celebrate those who come to the table in contest or cooperation. We honor the communities that gather around the table, those who bring the winning spirit and sportsmanship to play with others. From the heaviest strategy game to the lightest party game, ITTD gives us a chance to celebrate those who bring their passions to the table.

And let’s not forget the places we play games, find our new passions, or simply connect with those who are looking to play together. ITTD lives within the walls of your friendly local game store and community events. It is here that communities and games find each other, where information is shared and passions flare to life.

You’ll find a universe to explore behind every door and beneath every box. International Tabletop Day looks to shine a light on stores and community events out there looking to bring everything that we love about the day together.

What is ITTD? Additional info here and here.
